Mark Pistel — Room 5 Recording Studio San Francisco
About
Description
I run a small studio in San Francisco called Room 5 where I do recording, mixing, and mastering — working with clients at the studio or remotely. I specialize in electronic music including techno, house, disco, dub, breaks, and experimental, but I’m equally at home working with live bands, guitar, bass, and drums. The studio is well equipped with great mics and top-end preamps including Neve and Calrec, a live room for recording drums, and several isolation spaces. The mixing system is hybrid with a Neve 8816 and outboard hardware compressors, and the main DAWs are Pro Tools, Logic, and Ableton. Room 5 also has an extensive analog synth collection. I’ve been part of the Bay Area music scene for a long time, with credits including Consolidated, Meat Beat Manifesto, Disposable Heroes, and Hercules and Love Affair. I’ve been recording and mixing since 1989, built Room 5 in the early 2000s, and have refined it over the years into a comfortable space for working class musicians to create.
