Description
Brothers (Chinese) Recording is owned and operated by brothers Jay and Ian Pellicci who have been passionate about music and recording, and have been working in studios since 1998. We work with projects and artists at all levels – from the seasoned artist to a band’s first time recording.
The studio holds a rich history and has had many iterations, including originally being the demo studio for En Vogue’s producers Denzil Foster and Thomas McElroy. Some notable clients include: Deerhoof, Tuneyards, OM, The Dodos, Bob Mould, Thao & Mirah, and Jason Lytle
The studio is centered around a custom Neve console (commissioned in 1978) and ATC SCM 25a monitors. It has excellent workflow, organization, and tons of vintage and modern equipment making it very welcoming for visiting engineers. Burl converters are used for digital multitrack capture and playback, a Studer A80 2” 16-track recorder for tape, and an Ampex ATR-102 for mixdown, if desired. While most albums are digital these days, we still make the occasional analog record. The studio has also been getting recognized as one of the best-sounding control rooms in the Bay area.
